In 2006, new rules were established with respect to sideline access for nonnetwork television video crews during NFL games.
The 2006 policy effectively met league objectives of 1) reducing sideline congestion for the benefit of network television and others working on the sidelines and 2) improving safety for both game participants and individuals on the sidelines...

This is the PFWA's 2006 NFL access survey. It was compiled through surveys emailed to beat writers for all 32 NFL teams. Pertinent comments from those participating in the survey were included.

HOUSTON - The Professional Football Writers of America announced the organizations annual awards today at the NFL's business meetings in Houston.
Miami Dolphins running back Robert Edwards is the winner of the Halas Award, which goes to the player or coach who has performed with abandon despite injury or personal problems off the field.
Edwards suffered a severe knee injury in February 1999 during acharity football game that almost resulted in amputation of his leg. He capped a 3 1/2-year comeback attempt by gaining a spot as Miami's third-down back for most of the 2002 season.
New York Jets coach Herman Edwards was voted the Horrigan Award, to the league or club official or player for his or her qualities and professional style in helping pro football writers do their job.
Former Pro Football Weekly draft analyst Joel Buchsbaum was voted the McCann Award, which is presented to a reporter who has made a long and distinguished contribution to pro football through coverage. Buchsbaum passed away in December at the age of 48.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Rozelle Award for being voted thebest public relations department.
